Born & raised in Albany on the south coast of Western Australia, I moved to the Riverina in 2017 and really enjoy both the lifestyle opportunities on offer and the hard-working attitude of its people.
I studied medicine in Perth at the University of Western Australia (MBBS), completed my Internship at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and then worked around the state for a few years as a junior medical officer before starting formal Orthopaedic training in Queensland in 2012. After years in Brisbane, Cairns, and Redcliffe, I transferred my training back to Perth finishing in 2016.
In 2017 I held short-term Consultant appointments at Royal Perth Hospital and Albany Health Campus before coming to Wagga Wagga. I have completed further Fellowship training locally with Dr Van Der Rijt in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty, and internationally in Shoulder and Elbow surgery with Professor Alessandro Castagna at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Italy.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA). I am also a member of the Australian Medical Association and the Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
I hold the rank of Captain (Reserve) in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps. I also very much enjoy the teaching aspects of my job and am a Lecturer and Program Co-ordinator for UNSW at the Rural Clinical School here in Wagga.
Currently, I operate at Calvary Hospital and Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital. I am available for consultation at Riverina Orthopaedics Wagga Wagga, Leeton Medical Centre, Junee Medical Centre, Cootamundra medical center, Temora Medical center and Gundagai Medical Centre. I am also an active participant in the on-call roster at the Wagga Wagga Rural Referral Hospital.
I work closely with the local physiotherapists and hand therapists to ensure my patients get the best outcomes and can be contacted through the rooms promptly if there are problems or concerns.
I believe strongly that living in the country should not mean having to accept substandard healthcare and I work hard as part of an excellent team here at Riverina Orthopaedics to ensure that this is true for my patients.
At work I have a keen interest in the Shoulder, as well as Sporting injuries.
Away from work I enjoy Rugby Union (JLTBL), trail running, hiking, water sports and Food & Wine – particularly Italian reds and cheese.
